Une ch'tite Française à Londres/A lil' French girl in London

09 septembre 2007

Summary: my dissertation is almost finished. The deadline is next Friday. Almost there! This week-end, karate show at a fair in North London. Sophisticated choregraphy to rehearse, and leaflets to hand out the rest of the time. Luckily, my role only involved waving a wooden stick as threateningly as possible, before getting 'killed' by the hero of the day, so nothing too complicated... when compared with the flying kicks and other acrobatics that some people had to learn!

I also went to Notting Hill Carnival. On Sunday, which was children's day, but it was already busy. Reggae and caribean music, fresh coconuts, jerk chicken, curry goat, plantain and gennips (an exotic fruit, never heard of it before...)...

This year's theme was the abolition of slavery. Here are some of its interpretations...

As for food, jerk chicken is *grilled* chicken, not smoked chicken, in case you had any doubts...

2 weeks... I guess that will be how often I'll update my blog from now on, unless something exceptional happens...
Everything's fine. I'm almost done with my dissertation. Unfortunately, my supervisor disappeared. I just hope he'll answer my email soon, the deadline is in 2 weeks.
Workwise, it's getting more and more interesting. And I'm even fairly happy to get up in the morning, so it's a good sign :-)...
Karate-wise, we have a show next week, so we're rehearsing a fairly complex choregraphy. Fortunately, I die early and spend the rest if the show simulating a corpse ;-)!
Last Monday was a bank holiday, so I baked some bread. It was only my 2d try, but it smelt like bread, looked like bread, and tasted like bread, so I'll keep going...
