Sahib Figaro...

Week-end visite bis... Cet après-midi, j'ai profité du Londres gratuit (si, si, ça existe). Cette fois-ci, c'était Open rehearsal, un espèce de festival qui permet d'assister à des répétitions de spectacles. Cet après-midi, c'était le Mariage de Figaro (la pièce), mais dans une version inédite: le metteur en scène était (anglo-) indien, donc l'histoire se passait en Inde, Figaro appelait son maître Sahib, les personnages portaient des espèces de châles et dansaient comme dans les films de Bollywood! Avec un percussioniste indien dans le fond pour rythmer l'action. Ca faisait un peu bizarre au début, mais en pratique, ça rendait super bien! En plus, l'intérêt était de voir un metteur en scène diriger ses acteurs, leur demander 15 fois la même scène mais en accentuant tel caractéristique du personnage ou en dansant différemment ou plus lentement... Il faut être super patient pour être acteur!
Ensuite, petit tour par le British Museum. Je sens que je vais revenir souvent...
Demain, visite plus ou moins guidée organisée par l'union étudiante.

Another sightseeing week-end. This afternoon, I've made the most out of 'Free London' (yes, it really exists). I went to Open rehearsals, an event that allowed anyone to assist to shows rehearsals. This afternoon, it was 'The marriage of Figaro', an adaptation of a 18th-century French comedy. I studied it at school, but that version was quite original, with a (British-) Indian director: Figaro adressed his master as 'Sahib', the actors were wearing long coloured shawls and adding bits and pieces of Indian dances in the middle, with an Indian musician in the background. I was a bit surprised at the beginning, but the result was great! and it was also interesting to see how a director works. How he asks 15 times to repeat the same dialogue, to make sure such and such aspects of the characters are obvious enough in the acting. How he asks for more rythm, a different dance step or a different tone... Actors have to be very patient...
Afterwards, I went through the British Museum. I'll go back there soon... Tomorrow, I'll go to a walk around the city organised by the student union.
